Fatigue and Hydraulic Pressure Cycling of Components
We have dedicated fatigue rigs for pressure testing hydraulic components and hoses. Components are located in an environmental chamber with cooling and heating systems allowing the simulation of extreme in-service conditions. In-house developed computer software affords full closed-loop control of impulse pressure and vibration waveforms. Parameters such as pressure rise time, impulse test pressure, rate of decay, and cycle rate can be specified. Automatic monitoring ensures pressure waveforms remain within specification throughout the duration of the tests. 24-hour endurance testing is also facilitated.
Applications involve testing to a demanding aerospace overshoot waveform requiring a pressure rise rate of 100,000-200,000 psi/sec with controlled peak overshoot and nominal pressure. Test procedures we have accommodated include:
- BS 4368-Part 4 - compression couplings
- CEGB Standard 236601 - compression couplings
- Lloyd's Register of Shipping requirements for compression couplings used on offshore and marine installations (BHR Group is a Lloyd's approved test house)
- Pressure impulse testing of hydraulic hoses to SAE and BS specifications.
