FMP Members receive enhanced capabilities with updated mixing software

BHR Group’s Fluid Mixing Processes (FMP) consortium Members received a boost this month as the organisation launched an updated version of its leading process mixing software; a unique tool that helps engineers limit risk in design, increase productivity and reduce costs related to any process involving mixing.

The software, which provides FMP Members with a quick and easy method of performing and comparing design, rating, and scale-up calculations for both stirred tanks and in-line mixers, is underpinned by over 30 years of validated laboratory research data and correlations. Created in Microsoft Excel, it is very easy to use and able to be integrated into Members’ own systems.

Additional features of the latest release will benefit users who:

- use glass lined or other poorly baffled reactors
- deal with very high solids volume fractions
- process complex rheology fluids
- apply steam heating in jacketed vessels

The ease of use, documented basis and licence free usage, along with the added benefit of support from BHR Group’s industrial mixing experts, saves a substantial amount of time and money when developing mixing processes or applying existing facilities to manufacturing new products.

Commenting on the new release, David Brown, Technical Director, said

“We work closely with the FMP Members to provide an easy-to-use software that helps solve ongoing industrial challenges. Everything we do is driven by their requirements, which is why our focus is on developing exploitable knowledge, and the tools to easily apply it”.

About FMP

FMP is an industrially driven mixing research and consultancy project, run continuously since 1983. It provides market-leading research on fluid mixing processes that produces design guidelines and scale-up methods directly applicable to industry which are not available elsewhere.  The FMP Design Guide is part of a suite of benefits exclusive to Members as part of the consortium.
